Winter Feet Hacks: How to eliminate ashy feet this season

It's already fall! I am so excited summer is over, because my body figure never quite made it through to summer 16, so I’m hoping summer 17, I will be slim thuggin! lol.

But besides that the summer was oh so good to my skin, that I am now ready to take on the fall. When I hear fall all I think about is dry skin and how fast my skin gets dehydrated, especially my feet. To be honest, sometimes I forget to lotion my feet and I walk out my house and look down and JESUS! it is as white as snow. Ash-ier than a MF! lol 

Its very important to me that this winter I take care of all my ashy prone areas especially my feet. I have come up with top hacks to having and staying hydrated and having healthy feet this winter. Lets save our FEET cos HAPPY FEET, HAPPY LIFE! (I really just made that

So here are my top tacks to having smoother, healthier skin on your feet

Usually I only scrub my feet when I get a pedicure. But having done a lot of DIY's and used my body scrub on my feet at home, I have started to see major difference in look and texture of my feet. Before you start to scrub, you have to wet and steam your feet by running warm water on your feet. 
Then you start scrubbing. There are a few ways you can scrub your feet; 
What you need: Coconut oil, premium ground coffee, sweet almond oil. 
Body scrub with great exfoliators
My recommendations: Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Body Scrub $30 or Yossi Box 'Fix It' Body Scrub $15

Massage scrub into your feet. Let it sit for 2 minutes, before using the foot stone, to really remove the cracked and hard skin at the bottom of your foot and the sides. Rinse off with warm water and feel the softness of your feet.


A good foot cream with a nice mini foot massage is all you need. Massage the cream on your feet focusing on potential crack areas and let the oils in the cream sink in. A really good foot cream I love is Aquaphor healing ointment. (I also use on my hands).  It's thick and really sinks in and hydrates my feet the whole day.  It has the perfect ingredients to moisturize and soften your feet which increase elasticity and firmness. 


During the winter, I suggest doing this every night if you can. This is a good long term fix to your feet allowing the skin texture to be softened and ashy free. You can DIY or buy the right body oil.

What you need:  Coconut oil, vitamin E and sweet almond oil 
Get body oil with the right ingredients
My recommendation: Yossi Box 'Adore' Organic Body Oil $20 

Massage it into your feet, making sure you reach in-between the toes, the heel of your feet and the sides. Once its all oiled up, Wear a cotton socks over night, allowing the oils to work its magic. When you wake up, your feet would be soft and hydrated.

You know I love my face masks, so it is only right I tried the foot mask too. Even though I had never used one until now. This foot mask from Sephora $5 is basically like a sheet masks but with pockets/gloves for your foot.  After scrubbing, pop your clean foot into it like a glove for a few min and BAM! your feet feels and looks hydrated. This will be great for when you need a quick fix and hydration before you wear that open toe shoe.  :)

My Experience: When I first learned of how great Vitamin C was for the face, I knew I had to start off with a brand that I was comfortable with. I went to an event where Mario Badescu had a stand and with all the products available, the vitamin C serum stood out to me. Most of the Vitamin C products I had come across where so expensive, but I figured if I start it should be a serum because its highly concentrated and I would see results faster.

After a week of using it every other night, I immediately started to see my face brighten up. Even my complexion started looking rich and I had an instant glow. The most noticeable effect of this serum is the rejuvenating and radiant glow you get the morning after. Even till now I'm still surprised by how every time i use it, the results just keep getting visibly better. My skin appears much smoother, healthier, brighter and plump.

8 Signs You Need To Change Your Skincare Products

A few weeks back, a friend of mine was telling me how she has been breaking out so much and she has no clue why. She hadn't changed her eating habits, she hadn't changed her products and her sleeping pattern was the same. She was really worried, damn near having a melt down, as she is a fellow skincare junkie, I totally understood her pain. 

So we went into investigation mode, looking into everything that could affect her skin, the symptoms and finally found what was wrong. The reactions came from her skincare products. She had outgrown her regular products, her skin had changed from combination to oily, but she was using skincare products for dry skin. 

After a long day of investigating, I decided to write this post letting everyone know 8 Major signs you see that should prompt you to check your skin type to see if it has changed, if so then change your skincare products pronto! 

1) Your Breakouts aren't getting better  or are getting worse.

2) Skin appears shiny and artificial.

3) Your skin is dry and tight. 

4) You skin feels rough, its flaking or peeling.

5) Your skin is more oily than usual.

6)You skin looks or feels dehydrated and just over all creepy looking.

7) If you see inflammation, increase in sensitivity, itching or burning.

September Skincare Priority - GOALS!

It's September!!!

OMG did this year go by fast or what! I almost can't believe we are already at the end of summer. I really don't feel like I did much this summer. BUT looking at the bright side, I STARTED THIS LOVELY BLOG that I am so excited about and I love very much! 

Moving into September, I have some skincare priorities/goals. I believe goals are set to improve whatever we feel needs to be worked on. I have made a list of priorities for this month that I hope will become habits. I'm sure you know, a goal without a plan is just a mere wish, so Im going to be wiser and set smart, realistic goals for this month.

As you all know skincare is major for me, and Im always looking for ways to improve it. 

What do I want to achieve in September?
This September, I want to improve my skins texture and appearance. Now I am not talking about just my face, I am talking about my whole body from head to toe. Also I want to lose at least, realistically, 15 pounds. I have gained 30 pound over the last couple of years and it always happens to me when I am in love. SIGH! Maybe I get to comfy or maybe I just stay home more and eat, but that habit, NEEDS TO STOP ASAP! 

Why is this important to me? 
Great skin brings self confidence! When I take good care of my skin and I feel & look good, start glowing and my confidence rises! Also it's always good to stay healthy so I can look even more amazing naked ;) 

What are my September Priorities
  • Learn to drink a gallon of water a day 
    • Water is good to hydrate your skin, especially if you have dry skin like me. Also it really helps to clean your system and remove toxins. I have tried this so many times but never succeeded, one GaLLon is a lot. This month, I plan to Challenge my self to drinking one gallon a day (or close to a gallon a day). 
  • Exfoliate my body twice a week
    • My days start and finish so fast that I really question time. Is there still 24 hours in a day?? lol I guess I am really busy now and really need to organize and prioritize my time. Exfoliating is removing the top layer of dirt, dead skin allowing new skin to grow and also for your skin to glow. I am religious with my face, but need to extend it to my body. 
  • Apply Sunscreen Daily - Body
    • I know the importance of sunscreen, trust me... I'm a skincare blogger! But sometimes I get so lazy and just ignore it in hopes of avoiding the sun. Well that's BS, this summer I skipped more days and I saw the effect, my skin tone became uneven. So in September I plan to change that habit and be more pro-sunscreen.
  • A Grapefruit a day
    • Not sure if you all know this, but grape fruit actually helps when you are trying to lose weight. Also what I have noticed if you eat it prior to a meal, it fills you up so you eat less. Also when I'm having sugar cravings  instead of getting cookies and ice cream *covers eyes* You can use the fruit to kill the cravings. SO I plan to eat this fruit every day and also use it to curb my appetite and cravings. 
  • Work out and eat healthy 
    • My last priority is to eat healthy! I have tried different diets and they just don't work for me. SO I have decided to get rid of all carbs in my house, cos if it's not there, then I can't eat it. Also use vegetables as a substitute for rice and bread. I have been so lazy to go to the gym, so this month my friend has decided to be my personal trainer. Having to work out with a friend should be awesome since we get to talk and help each other. 
How do I plan to achieve them?
By staying consistent, be goal driven and dedicated. This month giving up is not an option. I have a wedding in South Africa I am going to be a part of. I will be using that as a point of motivation! wooohooo!
