At-home Face Steamer

There is nothing better than having a steamer to open up your pores for a deep cleanse. This is much more effective than using a hot towel or even using the traditional bucket filled with hot water and a towel over your head. This is easier to use and makes your deep cleanse experience at home, so much easier. I love my at-home face steamer, because i can use it for my face and also to unclog my nose when I get a cold. Love it!

No 4.
Glow Tonic by Pixi

Now I have tried many toners, and yes there are some good ones out there, but this Pixi Toner is really one for the glow. It hydrates my skin and doesn't feel uncomfortable at all. it is not too dry, and not too oily. I like the way my skin feels after I use it and also it really helps to prevent acne.

No 5.

OMG! I love Sheet masks. If I could everyday, I would use one. These are best for hydrating, moisturizing , brightening and just making your skin look plumper and healthier. I love a good sheet mask and the serums that come with it. It really makes a difference in your skin through out the day.

Facial Treatment | Rose Ela Studio Review

Hi Beautifulz,

I haven't had a a proper facial in a long time, I usually stick to my routines, and I think I do a pretty good job of exfoliating and hydrating. But of recent since my skin has been under attack by pimples caused by synthetic hair, I have been struggling with a routine, cos one moment all the pimples are gone and the net day it comes back.... very overwhelming! So on this day, I went to groupon to buy a facial; One Acne Control and Dermabrasion Facial from Rose Ela Studio, $45.

I called to make the appointment with Rose Ela Studio, and they were very flexible with my dates. I had one booked right away, and even had to reschedule, she was very much easy to work with to finding a good time for both of us.

Groupon Deal: One Acne Control and Dermabrasion Facial.

What is in the Deal:  Funny enough on the Groupon deal, it doesn't really explain to you what they would do to control the acne but I guess I kind of assumed what it would be from the name.

Location: 57 Bidwell Avenue, Jersey City, NJ, 07305.
So I live in Jersey City, and was looking for one in Jersey, cos usually, I go to NYC if I was to get a facial. I was really thrilled to see one so close to where I live. So, on the day of, I uber'd there which cost me less than 10 dollars each way. Winning!

Upon getting there I was looking for a sign that says Rose Ela Studios, but it looked very residential, I almost thought I was in the wrong place. So I called her, but yep it was in her apt. I remember her opening the door, I met Ela, (it's her studio). I was a bit skeptical because I expected a full spa studio, not a room in the apt. And I usually don't play with my face/skin, so needed to ask a few questions before I decided to continue with this facial.

Ela has been practicing for 3 years and decided this year to start her own practice. I like people who are entrepreneurs so she gave me a bit about there back ground and how she got into skincare and exams and classes she took. It was really nice to learn more about her and her practice and see how much she loved and enjoyed what she does. So I decided to move forward and start the process.

Before the facial: We sat down for a consultation. She asked me about my routine and what I currently do to my skin. I explained to her that my skin was perfect before this and the synthetic hair fiasco and how it ruined my face, I mean she could see it herself. She said to throw away my face brush because it builds bacteria. I just laughed because I spent a $100 on it, there is no way in hell, someone would tell me to toss it out. I think she noticed I wasn't going to do that so she gave an alternative to washing it with baking soda to remove bacteria completely. Now that sounds more doable. During the facial, She noticed some white heads that needed to be extracted and advised to skip the microdermabrasion and just do an extraction instead. She said if I do the microdermabrasion, I would end up spreading bacteria and advised I did extraction this time and microdermabrasion next time. At first I thought she was going to ask for an additional payment, but she didn't. So I went on and did an extraction instead.

Facial Time:

This is what occurred during the facial:

1. Completely removed makeup
2. Cleansed my face
3. Used a retinol face scrub.
4. Extraction: She spent about 30 min on extraction. Most places just do a few but she did everything.
5. Afterwards, she used a micro current wand all over my face focusing on the extraction spots to reduce swelling and also trigger collagen production so it heals faster. This was my first time so it took me a while to get used to the current flow and shocking.
6. Then a facial Mask with Matcha and Pink Clay. Looked a lot like avocado.
7. She then put a warm towels around it and let it sit for 15 min.
8. During the 15 min, she gave my shoulders, arm and feet a massage with cocoa oil. while laying on a heated bed! That was super relaxing!
9. Once she was done, She cleaned off the mask
10. And then th usuals came after; Serum, moisturizer, etc

micro-current wand
After the Facial: We had another consultation, which went well, she gave me 2 little toners and a 30 SPF for my face. She actually didn't push anything on me, like ohh buy a package, etc. Nope, she just scheduled a next time for the microdermabrasion in 3 weeks. The next day, all the swelling had gone down, and my face felt lighter. Can't wait to see the result in a week.

Professionalism: Although the studio is a room in her house, It was very clean, didn't feel uncomfortable after my initial shock. Ela is very warm & sweet and she makes you feel comfortable. there was smooth spa music playing, which was really relaxing.

So thats my Groupon facial review. The treatment was good in my opinion and I didn't have to pay more to switch procedures. I liked the fact she made sure she extracted everything and not just the visible one. I would be going back in 3 weeks for a microdermabrasion because I really liked what she did to my face. Thanks for reading this guys, look forward to seeing you in the next post.

Till Next time...

3 Types of Face Masks You Need in Your Skin Care Routine

Hi Beautifulz,

It's the holiday season, and there is a lot of shopping involved, everywhere is having sales, there's nothing better than buying the right products for a cheaper price! whoohoo! I want to take this opportunity to talk about my favorite type of masks and why I use them. This would help you understand face masks better and also help you to chose which ones are best for your skin.

So, there are three types of face masks I love using. These are;
- Detoxifying face mask
- Hydrating face mask
- Brightening face mask

Let's Break it down;

Detoxifying Face Mask

A detoxifying face mask draws out accumulated toxins and impurities from clogged pores, caused by pollutants of daily living, ,makeup, oil and dirt. The best times to do this is when you had a lot of make up on, your face is starting to look congested, you are having an acne outbreak, or just once every two weeks to be safe and clogged pore free. Usually this is best as a Clay mask or Mud mask or Charcoal mask.

- Helps balance oils in your skin by regulating excess sebum and tightening the pores.
- Helps smoothen and soften the surface of your skin.
- Helps with skin clarity by removing deep dead skin & dirt in pores.
- Black heads vanish after a few uses.

Detoxing Masks I Love:
- Origin Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask ($26) - This is my first Choice.
- Pixi Beauty Glow Mud Mask ($22)
- Aztec Secret Health Indian Healing Clay Mask ($10)

Hydrating Face Mask

When my skin is looking thirsty due to excessive dry skin, or even just winter weather, I would use a hydrating mask to restore, add, and lock-in moisture. The best acid to look for in the ingredient label is Hyaluronic Acid. This active ingredient is in many hydrating masks. It absorbed into the skin without having to be rinsed off. It revives my skin from its thirst state almost instantly.

- Locks-in moisture.
- Helps relieve puffiness.
- Can use a sheet mask with hydrating serums.

Hydrating Masks I Love:

- Glam Glow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment ($22)
- Dr. Jarts Water Replenishment Sheet Mask ($7.50)
- Origin Drink UP Intensive Overnight Mask ($26)

Brightening Face Mask

Now if you follow me on Instagram or snapchat, you would know I am all about the glow! I love my natural glow and try my best to glow always. What a brightening mask does is it rejuvenates damaged skin, brightens dark spots & scars and, evens out my skin tone. Usually I can see results instantly or even after a few hours/uses. I brighten my face at least once a week, because it lasts for a while and just makes your skin look super healthy. When my skin is acne free or I have minimal breakouts, I would just throw on a brightening sheet mask in the morning to give me that natural beautiful glow all day, even under my make up it pops. I prefer sheet masks for brightening.

- Easy to apply
- Instant results, so you can use on special occasions to get that good glow.
- Great ingredients that also keep your face moisturized

Brightening Masks I Love:
- Dr Jarts Dermask Micro Jet Brightening Solution Mask ($9)
- DIY Tumeric face mask
- Bosia Sake Brightening Hydrogel Mask ($8)
- Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask ($55)

Using the right mask can do so much for your skin. Celebrities use them all the time and  super models also swear by it. The ingredients are powerful, and have lots of benefits you'll see. So now with this said, time to go shopping. I need more masks for #MaskMondays. woohoooo! see ya!

Review & Demo: GlamGlow FlashMud Brightening Treatment

Hi Beautifulz,

Been a while since I did a product review, but I have been testing out a variety of new products and this Glamglow Flashmud is one of them.

So basically before I had my acne outbreak from synthetic hair, I went to Sephora to look for something that would help with sun burn. I had it on my cheeks area and needed something to brighten it or fade it. So one of the experts there suggests I use GlamGlow Flashmud and that I would be impressed by the results. But now, I have acne marks, I can also test it out and see if it will fade those marks too while brightening and treating the sun damage.

Basically this product is for hyper pigmentation, even skin tone and sun damage. So I purchased it, tried it out and now lets do a review!

The package is very cute! it comes in an orange box, kind of star shaped with silver writings on it. On the box you can find everything about the product from ingredients to directions and other basic 'to knows' about the Flashmud. When you open the box, it says;

This just made me feel extra excited to try it, I love compliments!

Also inside, it comes with an insert that shows you the greatness in the jar, basically all the ingredients inside of it. Also it has a small manual, explaining how to use it to get best results.

Overall the packaging is nice! The main content comes in a tin jar that holds 1.7ounces of the product. I don't really like the tin idea, cos products don't sit well and might alter in a tin.

$69 dollars at Sephora. Before this purchase, I had never considered buying Glamglow because it was too expensive and I couldn't justify spending so much on it. But I heard and read a lot of great reviews on the face treatment, so i chose to invest in it.

Texture & Smell:

Yummz! the smell is very fruity and sweet scented. I can smell like orangey- peachy. If you like citrus smells you would absolutely love this one. Even after you wash your face it linger on for a bit. As for the texture, it is whitish in color, it has little granules for exfoliating so you can feel them as soon as you put it on your face.

Life Span:
If you follow the directions, where you use it 3 times back to back the first time and then 2-3 times a week after that, It would take you about 2 months to run out of this product.

You can see the brightening treatment work after one use, but for fading scars/spots/burns, it could take up to 2 months to see good results. Not suitable for sensitive skin. There has been a lot of reports of burns, so make sure you test a small spot before using it on your full face.

Active Ingredients:

TEAOXI: White Birch Leaf that delivers natural Betulin, Betulinic Acid and Ellagic Acid to give you an improved, even skin tone.

Fusion of natural actives to create intense, bright and even results (Tea Leaf, Rose, Jasmine, Lilly, etc will help to even skin tone)

Flashlucent: Combination of skin translucency optimizers featuring 3 levels of exfoliation to drive ingredients to the skin for luminous, younger looking skin. (Lactic Acid and Salicylic Acid)

Reflectrum: Brightening ingredients boosted with Diamond PhotoLuminescence to increase reflecting level of the skin. Will appear more radiant.

The ingredient are really focused on brightening the skin, balancing the skin tone and providing you with antioxidants and ingredients that will also help to smooth the skin’s texture. At least that’s what I take from reading the ingredients, ha! Want to see the full list of ingredients, here you go:

All Ingredients: Water, Kaolin, Synthetic Wax, Cetyl Alcohol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Butylene Glycol, Acetyl Glucosamine, Niacinamide, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Pumice, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Pentylene Glycol, Quartz, Betula Alba Leaf Extract, Betula Pendula Wood Powder, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower Extract, Lilium Candidum Bulb Extract, Rosa Canina Flower Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Diamond Powder, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Xanthan Gum, Fragrance (Parfum), Benzyl Alcohol, Linalool, Amyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Potassium Sorbate, Lactic Acid, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, Ethylhexylglycerin, Salicylic Acid, Glycerin, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Seed Oil, Octyldodecyl Oleate, Octyldodecanol, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Solidago Virgaurea (Goldenrod) Extract, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Phenoxyethanol.

What it says it does:
According to GlamGlow, its innovative multi-brightening complexes help to create the brightest, lightest, and most luminous skin possible. Sounds good huh!

To start the demo, the instructions say if it's your first time using the mask, to get the the best results, you should use the mask for 3 days in a row and then you can use it 2-3 times weekly. They also say that SPF sunscreen is a must. Your face would be very sensitive to the light.

Steps to using it:
- Started off with a clean, dry face.
- I took a finger full and dabbed it all over my face.
- Gently move in a circular motion to spread the mask while exfoliating.
- Once evenly spread, wait 20 - 30 minutes so the ingredient can sink in and do the treatments.
- Rinse it off with water and pat dry with a towel.

My Likes:
- I loved the smell of it.
- The exfoliation is very intense and I can feel the treatment working.
- My skin was much brighter and had a good glow.
- It reduced the size of my acne and allowed my other products, such as; serums and moisturizers work more effectively.

My Dislikes:
- I don't like the tin jar, because I don't think tins can hold the power of the ingredients for a long time.
- Its too expensive for a 1.7 ounce jar
- The texture of the exfoliator is really thick and gritty for my skin. had to gently use it.
- Not good for sensitive skin

Is It Safe:
There has been a lot of complains of people getting burned because they had sensitive skin. So with that said, I wouldn't consider it too safe and would advise you do a small test before applying it on your face.

Where To Buy:

Yes, I would repurchase, but I would only use it once a week for intense brightening or when I'm getting ready to go to special events.

After the first use, my skin looked brighter, luminous and radiant. I noticed my skin tone was evening out and my acne reduced in size. After I used it for two weeks, 2 times a week, I realized it was maintaining the brightness and my skin started looking much healthier. I am still watching it to see if it would fade the dark marks, I guess in two months I will do a review to see if it worked. As for my sunburn, I still have it. It reduced significantly and I'm hoping it would disappear in two months. I personally thought 3 days was an over kill for face scrub. It really dried up my skin. I should have stopped at 2 days and started twice weekly.

Overall I like this Glam Glow Flashmud mask, It does what it says it does, and really helps, My make-up goes on smoother and my skin is looking like a million bucks. Glowing!

Have you tried this GlamGlow Flashmud mask? let me know what you thought!

Till then,
Peace, love & GLOW!

Easy DIY face mask for Clearing Acne - Baking Soda & Honey Face Mask

If I tell you it will only cost you less than 50 cents for this very effective, skin clearing face mask, would you believe me?

A box of baking soda cost 86 cents at Target and all you need for a face mask is less than two spoons. HA told ya!

Lets begin!

Hey Beautifulz,

So I have been battling an aggressive breakout for about a week now. I got it from wearing a synthetic wig on vacation and it destroyed my face with pimples. I am breaking out everywhere on my forehead that was in contact with my hair. I am back now and I am on treatment mode.

Here is a picture of the break out, when I got back. My face is not the same :(

This is a picture of my face before;

To get rid of the acne, once a week I needed a strong, yet targeting face mask that would really go deep and fight off the pimples on my face. I decided to go with the Baking Soda face mask. What this mask does, high level,  is it scrubs off excess oil on your face, reduces acne and eases out black heads.

Almost everyone should have a pack of baking Soda in their refrigerator because it helps prevents your fridge from smelling or maybe you bake.. either way it useful to have.

Before we get started with the DIY,  some of you are wondering, what exactly is in baking soda that makes it good for skincare treatment? Well, baking soda has pure Sodium Bicarbonate which is good for curing acne, oil control, prevents skin disease and irritation, and so much more.

For getting rid of acne, this is a great mask to use once a week, to really dig deep, clean and exfoliate your skin to see clearer skin results.

Baking Soda - Lifts Oil and dirt from face, cleans inside of pores.
Honey: Moisturizes your skin, has antibacterial properties.

1½  Tablespoon of Baking soda
1 Tablespoon of Raw Honey
1 Tablespoon of water

Let's do THIS!

In a clean bowl, mix all three ingredients together until you get a thick milky consistency.
Cleanse your face using warm-hot water to open up your pores (Use a face steamer if you have one).
Then, rub it all over your clean face, especially on the erupted pimples, and let it sit for 5- 10 minutes depending on your skin type.

Sensitive Skin: 3-5 min
Dry Skin: 5-7 min
Others: 10 min

Run a wash cloth under hot water, and use the steamed cloth to wipe off the mask. This will further exfoliate your face.
Once you pat dry, your skin would look thirsty, so make sure you use a hydrating moisturizer afterwards.

Heres a quick #SkinfirstdailyDIY Baking Soda & Honey Face Mask video;

Your face should feel soft, smooth and also very clean. It takes a a few reputations of this mask to see results, but what you do notice from day 1 is the acne reduces in size, some disappear and also you stop breaking out, so no new surprise pimples when you wake up.

Here's what my face looked like after just one use (the next morning)

It's not completely gone, but you can see there are less eruptions and it seems calmer after I used the mask. More updates to come in later posts.

This is a great, fast, easy to do DIY mask and it is very effective. You don't need a name brand baking soda, they usually all contain the same important ingredient.

Hope you learned a thing or two and would try out this mask. But don't forget, if you have never done this before, please test a small amount on your skin first to ensure you have no allergies or reactions to it.

Till next time...
Peace, love & GLOW!
