Get That Sexy Summer Body Glow

It's full swing summer here in the US of A and I love my sun kissed skin glow right now. Summer just makes me want to be so radiant all through. I am all about the GLOW! Love that radiant look especially when the sun is beaming.

I know we all want that sexy summer body glow that gives us the confidence of a celebrity (BEYONCE) on the red carpet. But let's be real most of them spend hours tanning or other derma procedures to get that perfect glow which probably costs a lot. I am here to give you the quickest way to get that sexy glow that will not break the bank or require you to spend time in the sun. Pls be aware that the products I mention below are perfect for dark skin to obtain that radiant bronze look but they have alternative shades for other complexions.

To Obtain the Sexy Summer Glow, follow the steps below;

Exfoliate your skin with a body polish or scrub such as Dermalogica exfoliating body scrub. This is a gentle, non-abrasive exfoliation treatment, which thoroughly removes dulling surface debris, dramatically improving skin texture. It is also really effective and leaves a soft smooth result that lasts for days. Although it's a bit pricey, a little goes a long way, so it lasts longer than most bottled scrubs.

Hydrate the skin with a good moisturizer that locks in moisture such as Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Lotion. It is a naturally nourishing, non-greasy lotion formulated with natural colloidal oatmeal and rich emollients to actively soothe and protect dry skin. The formula is proven to moisturize the skin for 24 hours, increasing the skin's moisture level by three times within four hours. The moisturizer is fragrance-free.

Enhance your skin radiance with Gleam by Melanie Mills Body Radiance - Deep Gold. This is a revolutionary moisturize and glow for the body that makes the skin look like velvet perfection. it enhances the skin , evens out he skin tone and really makes your skin look sun kissed. It's not a tanner; it really just enhances the glow. The good thing about it is it doesn't stain your clothes, and doesn't leave streaks, so you can wear it all day.

Illuminate the skin with shimmers of gold from the Body Shop Honey Bronze™ Shimmering Dry Oil. Now this creates a really diva look, that honey kissed bling look. The oil is perfect for any skin tone, but it really compliments dark skin.  It has a subtle shimmer on deep skin tones but it makes the skin look like it is glowing from within. It has a soft gold undertone and is not greasy by any means. It is perfect to put on your arms, shoulders, legs, chest and all the places that you want to glow.

Then lastly, please remember to use sunscreen these oils don't have spf and do not protect your skin from sun damage. Here are some images showing the glowing skin in different photo filters for picture purposes. You just GLOW in all shades. Yes HONEY!

Has a refreshing smell, not strong just seems cooling.

How do you use it?
On a clean skin, massage the moisturizing gel all over the face, a little goes a long way, in the morning and evening. Wait a few minutes for the gel to soak into the skin. I love using it at night time, because I wake up to healthy looking skin.

Best for winter or summer?
It's best for winter, but you can use it in the summer, especially when you have stressed the skin, like being in the sun for a long time.

How long did I test it for?
6 Months

How much is it & what’s the size?
It is $31. SIZE 50ml 1.69 fl oz

How’s the distribution? Available freely or limited?
You can easily order it online or buy it at different partner stores such as Target, CVS, Walgreens, etc. It's usually available and not too limited although some stores seem to run out of it, but within a week it is back on the shelf.

What’s good about it?
Healing properties. When I burnt my skin with Tee tree essential oil, this product was a miracle worker. It peeled off the burns without leaving a scar. Basically the burn slid right off my face. Also it healed pretty quickly. It is very easy to use. The packaging is great and looks good for the price. This mineral water gel based formula can be used as a great moisturizer for dry skin. It really keeps your skin moisture up all day. Your skin just has a nice plump, well moisture look afterwards. For how good the product worked, the price is not too bad at all. Because it is water based and oil free, it works on all skin types.
In February, when I had the worst break out of my life. Tried to treat it with Tea tree essential oil and I burnt my skin. Applied the Vichy Gel twice a day, and it cleared up without leaving a mark.
What’s not so good about it? It takes a while for it to absorb into my skin. So I have to wait a few minutes more than usual, before I can apply makeup on my face. But besides this, the product is awesome.

Would I purchase/repurchase?
Yes I will. I might not use this everyday, but its definitely something to have in my skincare cabinet incase of emergency like a burn, irritation, or even in the winter when my skin is extra dry and needs a picker upper.

Do you need it?
Skin needs moisture to not be dehydrated; the hyaluronic acid in it is an essential. It also gives a very nice dewy look. If you have super dry skin, or irritated skin, this miracle mineral water gel product is best for you to use daily. You see results or a big difference in a matter of days.
Vichy's Aqualia Thermal Mineral Water Gel is $31.00 from Target and Vichy USA

Sheet Masking for Beginners

This Korean beauty trend is now popular all around the globe. I have friends in New York, Nigeria and London asking me constantly on what sheet masks to try. I must tell you, I love sheet masking, it's easy, its fast and quickly to do and you see quick results.

Sheet masks are basically papers soaked in serums that target skin issues like hydration, brightening, firming, and also pore minimizing. It takes about 30 min to really soak in to your skin, but in that 30 min you look funny with the mask on, to kids especially. I have tried multiple times to take hot pics with the mask on... always an epic fail *covers face and laughs" But once completed, your skin has a nice glow and texture, which is totally worth it. You know I love to Glow!

Sheet masks have various types and various treatment properties. Here are some of the ones I have tries and loved;

To brighten, I always use the Vitamin C masks

To firm I use masks infused with collagen

To hydrate, I use masks with hyaluronic Acid

To soothe my skin, I use an Aloevera Mask

To detoxing, I use green tea masks, black tea masks, & sea weed masks.

The best time I use my sheet masks is in my daily night routine; Cleanse, 2nd Cleanse, Tone, Sheet Mask then night moisturizer. Sometimes I might put it over a treatment serum; so I apply 3 drops of my tea tree serum and then wait a few minutes for it to soak into my skin, and then put on my sheet mask. Double serum never hurt nobody!

Sheet mask adds great benefit to your skin! And lots of people have seen great results. If you’re up for a #SFDchallenge, Let's do the 7 days of sheet masking challenge, here's how:

7 days of Sheet masking

Step 1. Use one sheet mask per day for 7 days straight and watch your skin glow! Pick a mask that will feed your skin what it needs; i.e. if its looking dull use a vitamin c mask, if it's very dry, use a  hyaluronic acid mask, and so on. Make sure you apply it on a clean face.
Step 2. Post a sheet mask selfie on Instagram #SFDchallenge and tag three friends telling them to join you in the challenge.
Step 3. Reveal your GLOW! Take before and after pictures each day to track your progress.
To get started, I will be using sheet masks from TonyMoly, and will be choosing between the different types based on how my skin feels the day of. If you aren't sure where to order some here's a link to some of my favorite Tony Moly Sheet masks.
Can’t wait to see the progress and hear about your experience. #SFDChallenge

How to Treat Your Skin: Glycolic Acid

If you have ever had an acne outbreak then you definitely have heard of Glycolic Acid. For me I fell in love with this when I tried the glycolic foam cleanser from Mario Badescu. My face felt so poreless and smooth.

Glycolic Acid is in the AHA family (Alpha Hydroxy Acid). Usually can be founder in cleansers, toners, cleansing pads, peels and others. When it is used in skincare products, it offers many benefits to the skin such as rejuvenating the skin revealing a brighter and fresher skin. Glycolic Acid fights acne & dark spots on a surface level, doesn't go skin deep, so it improves erupt acne and new hyper-pigmented surfaces.

Benefits of Glycolic Acid
  • It's a great and safe exfoliant for the skin and can be used on sensitive skin.
  • Most daily products have a low percentage of Glycolic Acid. The stronger ones should be used 2-3 times a week.
  • It is best used as a first cleanser in your face washing deep cleanse routine.
  • Glycolic Acid is used in products that treat acne scars, discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles.
  • It brightens dull aging skin, revealing a fresher look
  • It dissolves dead surface skin cells.
  • It keeps your pores clean but can dry out your face, so use a good moisturizer afterwards.

Want to incorporate Glycoilic cid into your skincare regime?
It can be gentle on the skin and is best used as a night cleanser. Using the Glycolic Acid in you facial product at least 2-3 times week, will help you shrink your pores, and get rid of hyper pigmentation. It may take a few weeks of constant use before you start to see results.

In the Skincare world, Glycolic acid is a staple in most skincare deep cleansing routines, after all who doesn't wanna get rid of scars and hyper pigmentation and show your their fresh, bright glow? I know I do!
