How to Get Glowing Skin Before a Big Event

Glowing skin for a big event

It's wedding season for me, I have so many weddings I'm attend these last couple of months before the year ends. WOW... two more months till 2018.. feels like 2017 rushed through!

I enjoy attending friends weddings to celebrate their union, but at the same time it's always like a mini reunion, seeing old and new friends from all over. It's always a good time, hanging out, reminiscing and of cos taking pictures. You see the thing with pictures is that they last forever, so you always want to make sure you look your best and your skin looks great in all the photos.

So, here is the really easy way I get my face to glow and also make it a great canvas for your make up.

List of What I Use to Get Glowing Skin the Day of a Big Event

Glowing skin for a big event

Step 1:

Exfoliate

A light exfoliating scrub to remove all the dead skin to reveal newer skin. Since it's day time, I use Aveeno's Positively Radiant skin brightening daily scrub.

Step 2:

Mild Cleanser

As a second cleanser, I use Fresh's Soy Face Cleanser. It is really gentle on the skin, so it's great as a morning cleanser for my skin.

Step 3:

Tone

To balance my PH and remove any impurities or dirt on the skin, I use Mario Badescu's Glycol Acid Toner. I love this toner, it's great for acne prone skin.

Step 4:

Serum

I follow with a Brightening Serum, of cos my favorite Vitamin C serum from Mario Badescu. This really helps to add some glow in dull skin, brings out the happiness in my skin.

Step 5

Sheet Mask

Next I used a hydrating collagen mask from Peach and Lily to boost brightness and plump my skin. Leave it on for 30 minutes and then let the serum dry up on the face for an additional 5 min.

Step 6

Moisturize

I use an oil Free Moisturizer or whatever moisturizer is appropriate at that time, depending on my skin condition. Since my skin is combination right now, and since I am using a lot of brightening products, I use an oil free moisturizer to limit the shine and prevent acne formation. I just got this Black Jack Oil free moisturizer sample from Sephora, tried it and it did well on my skin all day.

Step 7

Sunscreen

This is like a staple rule that we forget most times, but it's just as important as everything else. I use SPF 30 Algenist Sublime Defense Sunscreen on my face.

Once you complete that, your face will look instantly brighter and would be a great canvas for the make up you'll be applying for the event. For some bonus tips, make sure to drink a lot  of water the day before the big event and get enough rest at lease 8hrs of sleep if possible.

Now It's time for you to get glowed up for your big event coming up; LIGHTS CAMERA ACTION!!

The Ultimate Shoulder Glow Up

One thing I love is for my skin to always look glowing when I wear off shoulder, backless, or anything that's going to show some skin.

I went to an event recently and wore an off-shoulder dress. Here are the products with the steps I used to get that glow up on my shoulders.

What You Will Need;

- Argon Body Oil from Body Shop
- Honey Bronze from Body Shop
- Melanie Mills Gleam Body Radiance

After a clean shower, moisturize your skin with your daily body moisturizer. Give it like 3 minutes for the moisturizer to sink into the skin. Then after putting on your clothes, grab the Argon body oil, and rub it on all visible parts of the body; so that would include, shoulders, neck, arms, and legs if you're wearing a skirt/shorts. Let that sink into the skin for another 3 minutes. Once that is done, grab a little of the Melanie Mills Gleam Body Radiance, a little goes a long way so be careful not to put too much, and rub it all over your shoulders and include your neck. I typically will grab a fan or a book and fan myself so it can dry up faster. After about a minute or two, I then shake the bottle of Honey Bronze from Body Shop, and then put about 5-7 drops on my hand. Then I rub it into my shoulders, giving my shoulder the illusion of glowing skin. What I love about the Honey bronze is that although it has glitters in it, when you apply it on your skin, it isn't as visible, but you do see that your skin looks very luscious and golden. once thats done, you can put on your dress and let your shoulders do the talking :)
Just an FYI the Melanie Mills Gleam Body Radiance does stain your hands and clothes that get in contact with it, so do not do this if you are wearing white or a light color.
But besides that this is the best way to get a glow up on your shoulders. I got so many complements at the event, I couldn't wait to share the tutorial (how to) with you guys, I mean see for yourself in the pictures, don't you want to be that radiant?

Finishing Touch Yes! Review – Pain Free Hair Remover

finishing touch yes! review

Finishing Touch Yes! Is a full body rechargeable and portable hair remover that claims to remove hair instantly with no nicks, cuts and no bumps.

Facts about Finishing Touch Yes! Hair Remover.

It is time to ditch our razors and grab this new-age portable device. Finishing Touch Yes! hair remover might really be the saving grace to all women, even men who shave as well. This device is a product from 'As seen on Tv'. I purchased it at the Duane read by my house for $39.99. It was one of those impulse buys, like I know I really hate using razors but then does it really work, is it really worth my investments? I was excited to try it out. I had a friends wedding coming up and really needed to groom myself. Razors are usually a hit or miss with cuts. So I bought it anyway and was wowed by it.
The device is very portable, you can travel with it, put it in your toiletries bag, use it at anytime. The Finishing Touch Yes! device was voted Product of the Year for Innovation in 2015. It is safe and I tried it and Yes! you get no cuts, no bumps, and no nicks after using it.

How Finishing Touch Yes! Hair Remover Works - Demo

There is a lot more information on the Finishing Touch Yes! Hair Remover, the demonstration on how it works and my thoughts in the video below. Check it out!

If you are thinking about Finishing Touch Yes!...Hair Remover

I am very impressed about this product, The two shaving heads, trimmer and micro foil, are a great combination. Most electric shavers just trim, but the micro foil actually pulls out the tiny left over hairs left by the trimmer. Great combo!
I am so over razors, I don’t think there's been a time were I shaved without getting cut. No more razors for me, this is one of the coolest products I have tried. I don't know why it has poor reviews on amazon but after trying and testing it out, I definitely recommend the Finishing Touch Yes! Hair Remover.

Mario Badescu NYC Salon Visit- European Facial +Glycolic Acid Peel

SkinFirstDaily

If you read my blog you know I love Mario badescu and I have raved about their products  a few time on the blog and on my Instagram page. I am a big fat fan of their vitamin C serum especially.

I finally went to their NYC location to get a facial! I know, I usually don't do professional facials anymore, because I do a really great job myself at home. But once in a while I go to a professional, because of extractions. I still haven't mastered it, I always end up in bruises. SO I decided to go because yes I tried to extract and I ended up scaring myself and needed to get a proper extraction done.
SkinFirstDaily
Nice and clean space

SO I decided to go to Mario Badescu because I love the brand and the facials are cheaper than other private aesthetician. I decided to go with the European facial, which came with extraction and then added a glycol peel to help with the dark marks I had from the scars.

First of all customer service is 100! Reasons being, very polite and warm people work there. I was about 30 min late due to the crazy NYC weekend train schedule, and they were very understanding and put me in the next available slot which was almost immediately.

I met with a lady named Betty, super sweet, you can tell she knows her stuff as a licensed esthetician. We had mini consultation about my skin, Of cos my skin looked great :) but was a bit congested and needed to extract. (I already knew that so I pat myself on the back) She also recommends and it is up to you to decide what you want to get done. She recommended the glycolic peel so I knew we are on the same page. A lot of places just recommend so you can spend more, so you have to know your skin and what it needs before going in, so you don't get ripped off.

The procedure
- Neck and face massage
- Cleanse face
- Steam face
- Extraction
- Scrubbed/Polish
- Glycol peel - Mild peel
- Face Mask
- Sea weed compressor to reduce any swelling from the extraction & peel
- Serum- Vitamin C serum
- Moisturizer
SkinFirstDaily
Loved the way my skin felt and looked after the facial & peel
Unfortunately I didn’t take pictures, during the process because she had my moisturized hands in this heated hand gloves, to soften the ads. It felt so warn and almost made me fall asleep during the process.

The European facial cost $65 and the added on Glycol peel cost $45.
Most of their add ons prices range around 45 - 95. Not bad at all.

If you like their facials you can pick up their products in stores there, they have everything for every skin type that exists. I was hoping the store location will have their events discounts but nope, its all original price.

Skin looks so radiant after the facial

At the end, I really enjoyed the facial experience. My skin felt good, she took her time to extract, some places do two or three and stop, she went over my lips, nose, chin, forehead, everywhere, really took her time to removing all blackheads. I will definitely be back for more treatments and would recommend it if you are looking to get a good, affordable facial with excellent service.

Best Way to Store Your Opened Skincare Samples

Hey Hey Hey!

I get a lot of skincare samples from different stores or online orders. Sometimes the brands are generous and put a 3-5 time use of sample into their sample sachets. But the unfortunate thing is the samples have no zip locks or a way of closing it, so I had to come up with a smart way of sealing the products tight so air doesn't go in it and mess with the ingredients.

Watch this short video to see how I store my opened and left over skincare samples so I can get more out of it.

Hope you enjoyed the video!

Have a blessed day.

The Best Ways to Treat Acrylic Nail Fungus

My finger nails have been hurting me really bad after I took of my acrylics nails. Then my nail bed got soft, started cracking and breaking easily. The panic started when I looked at my nails one morning and noticed my nails was growing inwards and not outwards, meaning the nail was starting to detach from the nail bed. OHHH I panicked and then found out I had ‘Nail Fungus’. SO I did some research and bought treatment that has been working and now my nails are back to normal in a few days.

The ‘Acrylic Nail Fungus’
Have you heard about this before?

Well, those who use the acrylic or artificial nails may have heard this before.

Actually, from the technical point of view, there is no such thing as fungi, the root cause behind the nail fungus cannot infect the artificial nails, but it obviously can affect one’s natural nails underneath the artificial ones.

Now, the nail fungal infection may go unnoticed for a long time under acrylic nails as it hides there. Once the nail gets infected, the fungus thrives as the fake nails offer a perfect place for them to thrive – a warm, moist and dark atmosphere. The false nails mask the fungus infection and help it spread.

Causes of Acrylic Nail Fungus.
The acrylic nails application involves altering, thickening, and lengthening of one’s natural nails. And, this thing causes fungus infection between the layers. The application nail polish on the fake nails also acts negatively as the fungi will thrive there due to the moisture.

The nail professionals also apply the acrylic nails over the natural nails of a person and the already harboring fungus spores there make the situation worse. This situation promotes the decay of the nails.

Also, the tools used by the nail professionals at the salons may be the reason behind the acrylic nail fungus. The salon professional use the same tools for all their customers. Now, the fungi present in the tools can infect you when you go there. This is one of the common causes of acrylic nail fungus.

The poorly fitted acrylic nails can also cause the nail fungus infection.

And, the lifting of the artificial nails is also responsible for this problem. It happens mostly when you are applying these nails yourself. When the acrylic nails are lifted or they are not fitted properly over the natural nails, water gets in easily and thus, it provides a breeding ground for the infection. So, poor fitting of the fake nails is also one of the causes of acrylic nail fungus.

Treatment of Acrylic Nail Fungus.
There are many treatment options for the treatment of the Acrylic Nail Fungus, but what worked for me was the Maximum strength Fungi Cure.

The nail fungus infection lasts for months when it is not treated. When the infection occurs, the first thing that you should do is to remove the fake nails and cut down the natural nails short. Then apply the Fungi Cure oil into the nails and around your cuticle. It comes with a brush which makes it easier to apply the medication on your nails.

Some at-home treatments that work.
1. Vinegar – This natural nail fungus remedy works effectively. The white vinegar and the Apple Cider vinegar are very popular for this purpose. Soak in your affected nails in the solution for about 30 minutes daily. Keep applying it till you see the results for your acrylic nail fungus.
2. Listerine – This mouthwash works well for the nail fungus treatment. Soak in your affected area for 30 minutes daily. It works for both the toe nail fungus and finger nail fungus. It is an effective treatment of acrylic nail fungus.

3. Essential Oils – Try the different essential oils like the lavender oil, olive oil and jojoba oil etc. These natural oils have great properties that eliminate the fungus and also work for healing the wounds. These oils work well for the Acrylic nail fungus.
Prevention is always better than Cure.
To prevent the acrylic nail fungus infection, make sure the nail salon you are going to is very clean and their equipment is sterilized after every use.

When you notice one of your acrylic nail lifting or is not fitted well, then you must glue it back immediately in order to prevent it from moisture. So, always take a glue-stick with you in your handbag.

P.S. – One important piece of advice for the ladies – Never try the acrylic nails if you are in a profession that requires you to have your hands in water a lot. Constant contact with water weakens the glue and the nails lift.
Have you ever had a fungi infection on your nails after doing acrylic nails? how did you cure it? pls share.

'Tis the Season for Pumpkin Skincare!

You guessed it from the picture above, it's pumpkin season. Fall is here! woop woop and now everything is going to have pumpkin infused scent in it. Starbucks had their pumpkin coffee, bath and body works has their pumpkin lotion and body mist, all bakeries have pumpkin cakes and now Skin First Daily has their pumpkin skincare trend post! ohh yea!

I myself am not a pumpkin scent lover, but I do have some readers who love it and would love to help them find some pumpkin infused skincare products to really keep them in the fall, halloween, pumpkin spice mood. The funny thing is that I have some products in my shelf that are pumpkin infused, and last time I used some of them where in the fall. There must be something in the scent that just feels good in the fall, when its a lil bit cold.

Benefits of Pumpkin in Skin Care

Most of the skincare products with pumpkin are usually used for glowing and nourishing  the skin, which is right up my alley. When eaten, pumpkins are disease-fighting agents that are full of fiber, potassium, magnesium, Vitamins C, E, A, and Carotenoids. For skin care, pumpkin serves as protective antioxidant for your body. The Vitamin C and E work together to neutralize free radicals, keeping our skin healthy and young. Also, the Vitamin A in pumpkins works to protect your skin against UV damage and it contains enzymes that dissolves protein, which helps shed dead skin cells.

Pumpkin Season means Pumpkin Skincare, so here are my top 4 pumpkin skincare products to try this fall;

How to use: The Pumpkin Enzyme Mask by Peter Thomas Roth

Hey Glow Babes,

Since we are in the spirit of fall and in the halloween month, all I think off is pumpkin and the color orange. :) I decided to show you how to use this really cool product by Peter Thomas Roth - The Pumpkin Enzyme Mask also known as Pumpkin Enzyme Mask Enzymatic Dermal Resurfacer.

The triple-action product exfoliates with pumpkin enzyme, peels with alpha hydroxy acid and polishes with aluminum oxide to eventually reveal smoother, youthful, radiant and revitalized skin.

I bought the sample pack of all the Peter Thomas Roth face masks about 7 months ago and this one really stood out to me. I have used it about 3 or 4 times since I bought it and it is in the finishing ends. The scent is very inviting if you like pumpkin and the tingle lets you know it's working. I remember the first time I used it, I felt a tingly sensation and thought my skin was burning. I rinsed it off immediately. I thought my skin was too sensitive to the product and didn't want to risk getting burned. It was after doing some research on it I realized everyone had the same reaction and felt the tingle. It stings while you rub the mask on your skin, but the tingly feeling goes away after a few minutes. The more you use the mask, the normal the tingle starts to feel.

How to use the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask Enzymatic Dermal Resurfacer Mask

Step 1. Apply a thin layer to clean skin.
Step 2. Gently massage in a circular motion with wet fingertips to polish with micro-polishing aluminum oxide powder.
Step 3. Leave on for 10 minutes depending on skin sensitivity and let the AHAs and enzymes work.
Step 4. Rinse thoroughly with cool water.

Benefits of Pumpkin Enzyme Mask Enzymatic Dermal Resurfacer Mask
- It treats multiple skincare concerns such as dullness, finelines and acne.
- It has vitamin A which helps to fight free-radical damage caused by the sun. So it is great in the fall.
- The enzymes instantly brighten dullness and helps with congested pores.
- A more youthful-looking glow radiates from within and makes your face look simply smooth and fresh.

This product is excellent for all skin types. It is sulfate and paraben-free and full of all the good stuff that delivers good results. I really love how this mask leaves my skin feeling clean and polished! It gets rid of the dead skin and it revitalizes my skin. Overall, I love this mask and highly recommend it!

Have you tried this Peter Thomas Roth's Pumpkin Enzyme Mask? Any thoughts, let me know in the comment box below.
