Transition Your Skin Care Routine to Winter

Winter is here!

YEP. If you live in New York or New Jersey, you know the weather is already turned up to ice cold. And the air is dry, it actually dries up my throat and eyes when I stay outside for too long.

As per usual, change of season usually required you to change a few things in our skincare routine. I mean with winter, comes excessive dryness so you know hydration needs to be turned all the way UP.

In the summer my skin tends to be combination skin but in the winter it is super dry. The dryness can cause acne breakout and also make the skin look dull, and we don't want that, we want to GLOW all winter long. So, here are the steps and products I use to keep my skin stable and still have soft, clean and hydrated skin all winter long.

Winter Survival Skincare Tips

Here are the steps you should focus on in the winter season;

Remove all dead and dry skin from the surface. I exfoliate 2-3 times a week to reveal new, glowing skin. I use cleansers with Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs)/Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs). For dry skin, use AHA and for oily or combinational use BHA. Also because the sun isn’t as beaming as in the summer, this is the right time to do Chemical peels, or any exfoliating procedure.

Besides drinking more water to hydrate my skin from the inside, I use my facial mist during the day to keep my skin hydrated and at night I use my hyaluronic acid serum which penetrates and hydrates my skin over night.

In the summer we moisturize already, but I use light moisturizers. But in the winter, I use thicker moisturizers during the day especially if I will be outside for the most part. At night, because I crank up the heat (I hate being cold) I also use a thick moisturizer cos that heat can be very drying.

For toning after cleansing, I try to use less drying toners and focus on hydrating toners with aloe vera and rose water in them. This just gives more hydration and less drying.

       My routine in the winter doesn’t change much, I cleanse, exfoliate (2-3 times/week) Tone, hydrate my skin with a mist or serum and then moisturize. Also I use sunscreen during the day and a lot of hydrating sheet masks with collagen.

If you want recommended products for each step; let me now in the comment box below.

  1. Hey, I read your article and like the valuable information you provide to your article. I'll bookmark your blog and test again here regularly. I'm sure I'll learn plenty of new stuff right here! I found the products really useful and it would work great on my skin and solve many face-related problems. I started using skin brightening cream dermology. It's a skin brightening and whitening cream. I have really seen the change in my skin. So it's a must try!

  2. Informative post. Winter weather is not fun for skin. Cold weather and low humidity levels result in dry air, which then steals moisture away from the skin every second of every day. Without immediate care, dry skin can lead to cracking and bleeding, and harsh winter wind makes the problem worse. Additional moisture helps, but you need to do more to actually counteract these effects and keep skin looking youthful and smooth. I want to add one more product in this list that is revitol eye cream because I use it and it has great results. Fr more click here: where to buy revitol eye cream
